Société Lumière production; distributed by Société Lumière. / Cinematography by Louis Lumière [?] and Francis Doublier on a second version? / Premiered 10 June 1895 in France. / Cinématographe spherical 1.30:1 format. / The production was shot at Jardin des Lumière à Lyon Monplasir, 264 cours Gambetta in Lyon, France. There may to be two separate versions of this film, taken at different times, both listed as Lumière film number 99. The second film may be known by the above title and shot in 1896 by Doublier, the original may have been known as Le jardinier and was shot in 1895 by Lumière. The first French fiction film; generally thought to be the first film comedy.
