Noah Beery

Born 17 January 1882 near Smithville in Clay County, Missouri, USA, as Noah Nicholas Beery.
Died 1 April 1946 in Beverly Hills, California, USA, of a heart attack.

Brother of actor Wallace Beery.

Married Beatrice Maudie Heath, 23 July 1907; divorced 1909.
Married Marguerite Walker Lindsey, 16 July 1910; son, Noah Lindsay Beery, born 18 January 1912, died 22 January 1912; son, Noah Beery Jr., born 10 August 1913; child; until his death, 1 April 1946.

Noah Beery was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and left home for New York at 16 years old. He soon began performing in vaudeville where he gained years of acting experience. His motion picture work began after his younger brother Wallace coaxed him to Hollywood to act in films in 1915. Character actor Beery often played heavies and is best-remembered for his comical villain portrayal in The Mark of Zorro (1920).

As in the silent era, Noah Beery was a prolific actor throughout the 1930s and 1940s.
