Prolific author David W. Menefee has written a substantial volume on a virtually forgotten player of silent movies, Fox film star George O’Brien. The male lead in some of the most substantial films of the entire silent era, including Sunrise (1927) and The Iron Horse (1924), O’Brien is proven to have been of more substance than a mere movie star. He was an accomplished athlete, and a decorated multiple war veteran.
John Ford fans will recognize O’Brien as a supporting player in Ford films from the 1940s and 1960s.
