Original prints featured brief hand-colored sections; the kimoma is tinted red in the jail cell after the murder trial, and later when ‘Fred’ looks for Gabrielle in New Orleans at night the street lamps were tinted, presumably red. [?] Screen credits list the title as “The Red Kimona,” but contemporary film advertisements list the title as “The Red Kimono.” The film was banned by the British Board of Film Censors in 1926. / Silent film.
