Winkler Pictures, Incorporated, was formed from the previous company, M.J. Winkler. The company contracted with Walt Disney to develop the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit character and create cartoons that were produced by Mintz for distribution by Universal Pictures Corporation. (The Oswald cartoons were later produced by Walter Lantz.) The company was again restructured as The Mintz Studio in 1929.
The company was restructured as Screen Gems in 1933, which was later absorbed into Columbia Pictures Corporation and is now a production company controlled by Sony.
