This BD-R collection of five early Lon Chaney films has been mastered from surviving archival 35mm nitrate and fine-grain 16mm reduction print materials that range from very-good to excellent. This edition presents what may be the best that these prints may offer in image quality terms. The Millionaire Paupers is in very rough condition with the print being in active decomposition when it was recovered in 1992; what image remains is detailed but suffers from frame jitters and several other forms of significant damage.
The films are presented with music scores performed on digital keyboards by edition producer Jon C. Mirsalis.
For individual reviews of some of the films included in this collection, see our By the Sun’s Rays on Home Video and The Scarlet Car on Home Video pages.
We recommend this disc as the best available home video edition of these films.
