Fred Gabourie

Born 19 September 1881 in Tweed, Ontario, Canada.
Died 1 March 1951 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Fred Gabourie apparently began motion picture work in 1919 and in 1920 began working for Buster Keaton, serving as technical director, with his principal focus on designing, implementing and rigging mechanical effects. In later years, Keaton characterized Gabourie as a genius at technical direction.

Gabourie occasionally worked as an art director, as well, chiefly for Keaton’s films. Among his art direction credits are Three Ages (1923), Our Hospitality (1923), Sherlock, Jr. (1924), Seven Chances (1925), Wild Justice (1925), Go West (1925) and The General (1926).

Gabourie continued occasional motion picture until 1935.
